Imagine living with a disability in a shack in a township like Langa —an impossibly challenging situation.

Fortunately, there is Cheshire Home Langa, an organization dedicated to providing compassionate care and life‑enhancing support to adults and children with severe, permanent disabilities. 

Cheshire Home operates with a committed team of 18 full‑ and part‑time staff members and accommodates 26 residents, all of whom are wheelchair users.

The home receives partial government support but remains heavily reliant on donations. 

At present, the monthly deficit amounts to approximately €4,000, making external funding critically important. Due to the ongoing shortfall, Cheshire Home is urgently seeking support for the following needs:

• €1,000 for materials to repair roof leaks.
• €8,000 to fix major plumbing issues — only one! toilet is currently functional, while six are out of order due to broken sewage lines also affecting the kitchen.

• € 2.000 for a professional stove, currently only “one‑and‑a‑half” stoves are still functional.

• €750 to purchase fertilizer, seeds, and materials to improve their self‑sustaining vegetable garden.
• €600 to establish a small chicken run to provide residents with fresh eggs daily.
